Stonewall United Church
Our Methodist and Presbyterian roots go back to 1868 and 1877
when the first churches were a simple log structure and Victoria
Hall. In 1883, construction was started on the present Knox
Presbyterian Church where it stands to-day. In 1888 a new
Methodist Church was erected on the present-day site of our
church. In 1925 the Methodist Church and about half of the
Presbyterian congregation voted to become part of the new United
Church of Canada.
In late 2001 there was a service of celebration held in
recognition of a three point charge amalgamation of Stonewall
, Grassmere and Brant-Argyle United
Churches.
